Microsoft will be rolling out its next update for Windows Phone 7, codenamed Mango. The update is due in a few months and will feature new apps including Angry Birds and Internet Explorer 9. Mango will even have certain upgrades such as the Spotify music application. Users will be able to download new applications and background content, stream music with one application while working in another, much like Android.Of course, it also depends which applications you have open, for instance, you cannot play a song on the Youtube app while working on something else because Youtube requires that you stay within the application for it to continue to play video or music.
Steve Clayton is a blogger for Microsoft and said that the developer toolkit for Mango will be released in May, in the following statement: “Starting next month you may want to cancel any social engagements you have with developers, because they’re going to be busy: both the developer toolkit for the next version of Windows Phone, code-named “Mango,” and the Kinect for Windows SDK beta are going to become available. Developers will be vanishing into their lairs, to emerge somewhat later bearing games, location-based networking apps, shopping tools and much more.” In another interesting twist of events, a Windows Phone 7 fan from Florida, Brandon Foy, created a video that may become an official Microsoft TV commercial if it gets over 200,000 views on YouTube.
